New England, 2002

Like the International Field article, the Generations article for this month’s eNews also comes out of the Aglow archives. It’s a gift to have these testimonies from year’s past so that we can learn from our past as we move into Aglow’s future.

In 2002, a New England Aglow leader shared an exciting Generations testimony, and I wanted to share it with all of you. As you read this “update” given 24 years ago, may the Lord stir afresh new ideas for connection as well as creative & witty ideas for building relationships with the younger generations of His children.

New England, 2002

Exciting things are happening at Gordon and MCC [local college campuses]! The NEW IS NOW!! At MCC, God has miraculously raised up five or six new leaders in the past few weeks. One day I walked around the campus asking God to lead me to the Christians. In the space of half an hour I found three. The Spirit pointed the people out to me, and I went up to them and asked, "Are you a Christian?" Everyone I asked said, "Yes!"

I then asked them if they were interested in helping with a club--yes! Even more miraculous was the fact that all three were free at the time of the club--Fridays from 11:30-12:30. Many of the kids on the campus work; it's a feat to get people together at one specified time. Michele and I approached the person in charge of Student Activities, and we should soon be given permission to start a club. We are excited about being able to mentor young people.

At Gordon, the Lord is asking me to raise up 60 women leaders and 40 men THIS SEMESTER!! I am not going to re-invent the wheel; I'm finding those who are already leading, RAs, Women's and Men's Ministry leaders, charismatic fellowship leaders and trying to connect. God has been allowing me to meet leaders fast. One key man and another woman leader were baptized in the Spirit in the last 2 weeks.
